The MEdIES Secretariat responded positively to the invitation of the Municipality of Megara, to host the MARLISCO exhibition for 3 weeks in the Municipal Cultural Centre and organize therein school visits.

The aim is to sensitise the students on the issue of marine litter and give them incentives to undertake a project about it, at home, on the nearby beaches and at their schools.

A training seminar was also organised on Friday 13/05/2016 to prepare the teachers who were about to bring their classes to the exhibition and was attended by about 25 teachers of primary and secondary level. The participating teachers worked in groups to discover the contents of the posters of the exhibition, as well as the educational material “Know Feel Act! To Stop Marine Litter” and discussed on possible pedagogic approaches for the issue of litter.

During the 3 week stay of the exhibition in Megara it is expected to receive hundreds of visitors, including students but also families and civilians attending other activities of the Cultural Centre.

The Municipality of Megara kindly offered the transfer of the exhibition and its hosting.

MEdIES officers Iro Alampei and Vicky Malotidi organised the training seminar in collaboration with the EE/ESD officer of the region Ms Alexandra Tsiggou and Ms Eleni Riga from the Municipality.
