MEdIES has been officially invited by UNESCO to be one of the members of the GAP Partner Networks, by joinning the Network on Priority Action Area 1: “Advancing policy”.

The Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD was launched during the World Conference on ESD in Aichi-Nagoya, (2014). The Roadmap for Implementing the GAP explaining its 5 Priority Action Areas can be found here http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0023/002305/230514e.pdf

Within this Roadmap (post-2015 period) UNESCO has set up 5  “Partner Networks” (one for each Priotiry Areas) that will help to implement the GAP. They are consisted of a limited number of strategically selected key ESD stakeholders whose actions are expected to have a catalytic effect.

Prof. Michael Scoullos, MEdIES Coordinator, co-chairs the Partner Network 1, the one of “Advancing Policy” priority area. He participated in the 1st Meeting of the GAP Partner Networks in Paris , at the UNESCO Offices, on 26-27 May.

During this 1st consultation meeting, the function of the Partner Networks was discussed in the plenary and during the breakout sessions proposals for particular workplans and joint activities for each Network were elaborated.
