The 18th “Mer en Fête” event was organized by U-Marinu on a boat travelling between Marseille and Corsica with stops to Bastia and Ajaccio. More than 5.000 kindergarten and primary school students attended the 3day event (between 8 and 13 May 2011). Our young friends had the opportunity to explore the “Mare Nostrum” through more than 60 workshops where the 130 animators succeeded to give the children a better insight of their Mediterranean eco-cultural heritage and learn them how to protect the treasures of nature. This yearΆs participation rate demonstrates the popularity of this original event.
The 13th Med'Educ took place this year on 11 May 2011 in the conference hall of Danielle Casanova boat, in Marseille. Environment teachers, NGOs, academia, researchers attended the workshops on Mediterranean culture and environment. A workshop was dedicated to the U-Marinu campaign for the implementation of the Agenda 21 at schools in the Mediterranean within an eco-cultural context.
Varvara Vasilaki, MEdIES and MIO-ECSDE representative, attended both events and discussed possibilities of supporting U-MarinuΆs campaign through the MEdIES online network.
