A. Three ALTER AQUA teacher trainings by MEdIES in Cyprus, 9 &10 November 2016
This was the 3rd time that MEdIES visited Cyprus and held teachers’ seminars based on the educational material “The other water” within the Programme “ NCWRs in Cyprus – Mission Water” (coordinated by GWP-Med). The seminars have been co-organised with the Pedagogical Institute of Cyprus and GWP-Med. In particular, two trainings were for in-service teachers: one on 9/11 at the Centre of Environmental Education (CEE) of Kavo Greko, Ammohostos, and the other on 10/11 at CEE of Akrotiri, Lemessos; and a more thorough training for the staff of CEE (on 10/11 at CEE of Athalassa, Nicosia). Approx. 65 participants were trained in all seminars. Among others, the seminars included 2 workshops: (a) On educational drama, by Iro Alampei, applying drama techniques to revive the water challenges some decades ago (based on Activity 6 of the material); (b) On using models, by Vassilis Psallidas, demonstrating how to construct and integrate a model in the teaching and learning process (based on Activity 3 of the educational material).
